How did you start modeling?
I was scouted on a musicfestival in belgium when I was 15.
What does your career do for you?
I had to grow up very fast, as I started working fulltime as a model when I was 16 or 17. I was self-employed, financially independent and traveling a lot. I did miss the fun years at school, I lost many of my friends, I had to miss my family and boyfriend while being alone in Paris for weeks or even months. But it was all worth it, I cannot even try to explain what great years I had. How much I’ve learned, the people I’ve met, the places I have been. I love to be surrounded by creative people, hard working people, knowing what they want and going for it. The people I work with inspire me every day. I guess it made me realise that I’m capable of many things. We all are. We just forget to dream sometimes.
What’s your most memorable shoot?
I have so many!
What do you think MODELLIST-ID can do for the model community?
I think it’s great!! As I said before, modeling is very lonely sometimes. I remember when I just started modeling abroad, I had no idea what to do, where to go or even what to eat. It’s a great way to share tips and read about other models.
Who do you admire and would you like to meet?
To be honest I cannot admire someone I’ve never talked to before. Especially celebrities, as the media turned them into something they might not be. But I would like to meet Johnny Depp though, because he’s handsome, haha.
What’s your favorite book/film/music?
The latest book I read was Eating Animals from Jonathan Safran Foer. I thought it was a great book but I felt a bit sick after reading it. I am not a vegetarian, but I don’t eat a lot of meat anymore. Great book though!
And music, I love music!! Besides modeling I am also a Dj. I only play electronic music (techno and house) but I like electronica as well.
What’s your beauty regime?
Water, healthy food and a good state of mind. Beauty comes from the inside!
What is the one beauty product you can’t live without?
Egyptian Magic, it’s my favourite product! It only contains olive oil, bee pollen, bees wax, honey, royal jelly extract and bee propolis. It has a bit of a vaseline structure but it melts on your skin like an oil. I use it as lipbalm, handcream (before I go to bed) and even in my face sometimes, as a nightmask.
What are your favorite hang out spots in the city you live in?
Antwerp! I like to have drinks at Le John, it has a bit of a living room feeling upstairs. It’s cosy.
What is your favorite city and where do you like to hang out there?
I like London a lot! Bars I go to are Sketch and The Bridge (to sit upstairs) and I love having pizza at Pizza East in shoreditch!
Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?
Don’t forget that this is a temporary job and it can be over before you realise it. Try to combine it with school!
What are your plans for the future?
There are many thing I’d like to do. I am studying event management, I also just started a new Dj concept called RENEE: https://www.facebook.com/renee.antwerp
