How did you start modeling?
I sort of fell into it. I started out acting and I thought I had no chance of becoming a model since I’d been rejected by almost every agency at every open call. But my first agency discovered some pictures I’d posted on models.com and so I gladly signed with them.
What does your career do for you?
It gives me an outlet to be creative and be a part of great art.
What’s your most memorable shoot?
I shot with Albert Watson a few months back and the man is so brilliant. I loved that he gave so much insight into his artistic process as he was going along. I learned a lot.
What do you think MODELLIST-ID can do for the model community?
I love how it shows models as artists and collaborators with varying skills and personalities. I think it helps each of us feel a little less alone by connecting us through interests beyond our work….so it replaces the competitive aspect of our relationships with an awesome, world-wide support system.
What’s your favorite book/film/music?
I’m generally a fan of the classics… Right now: 1950s thriller films, 1970s beat literature, 1990s angst-y rocker chick music.
What’s your beauty regime?
What are your favorite hang out spots in the city you live in (current location)?
I love my apartment! I put a lot of work into decorating it. And I wouldn’t dare insult her by claiming any other favorite location. 😉
What is your favorite city and where do you like to hang out there?
I spent most of last year in Berlin. I love it there. It’s a super cool city…really relaxed. I also really love Barcelona though I haven’t gotten to spend nearly enough time there yet. I also like it for being relaxed. And in both places, I love just walking around and looking around. I guess I’m a big fan of slow paces and siestas.
You came up with the iPort. When or how did you come up with the idea?
I was sick of traveling with a bunch of heavy portfolios from various agencies. My portfolios were always looking pretty haggard – the bindings were falling apart, the tear sheets were often torn, the pages became scratched. I was always forgetting my vouchers. So I decided to do something about all of this.
I started programming iPort a few months back because I knew it was something I personally needed – a beautiful, convenient way to show off my portfolio to clients and a way to always have a payment voucher available. Since then, it’s evolved into something that I think could be useful to a lot of industry people.
Why is iPort so useful for models and agencies?
Beyond being able to edit portfolio pictures and customize the look of the app’s book and background, iPort allows models and agencies to easily build, save, send, and receive multiple portfolios, comp cards, and vouchers. There’s also a brand new feature in iPort that allows agencies to design a custom template for their models so that their models all have a iPad portfolio fitting each of their agencies’ specifications.
What do you reckon will happen with the ‘old-skool’portfolio books?
I already notice that more and more models are carrying tablet portfolios, so I think their agencies are also going to catch on soon – especially now that iPort and the customized Caseable iPad cases we sell with a comp card sleeve such a beautiful, convenient alternative.
What is the price of iPort?
The app is free to download and $19.99 to upgrade to the full version.
Where can we buy iPort?
You can download iPort onto your iPad from the Apple App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/iport/id711536891?ls=1&mt=8. And you can also order a Caseable custom iPad case with your name, agency logo, personal design, photo or whatever you’d like at discounted rates by contacting me at Lyndsey@Standableinc.com .
What are your plans for the future?
With iPort, I’m continually making updates and improvements. But I’m also working on other apps at the moment that I’m really excited about. Check my Standable Inc Facebook site for updates!
Beyond programming, in general, like to take things as they go. I rarely like to get locked in to any one thing.
