How did you start modeling?

I was actually scouted at around 12 while on holiday overseas with my parents, who wanted me to focus on school. I dabbled in it for a few months when I started college in Australia but only after college did I move to India and fall into it full-time.

What does your career do for you?

My career takes me to unusual places and gives me interesting memories to reflect on when I’m old and grey!

What’s your most memorable shoot?

I once did a shoot where I had to pose lying on a massive mountain of shredded newspapers. It took up nearly half the room and climbing all over it was pretty much impossible wearing a tiny bikini!

What do you think MODELLIST-ID can do for the model community?

Modellist-ID is a community which brings models together to understand the industry, connect with fellow models and share advice. It’s a great resource for those either just starting out in the industry, or tackling a new country.

Who do you admire and would you like to meet?

I admire strong, brave women in power. I would have loved to meet Cleopatra or Joan D’Arc.

What’s your favorite book/film/music?

Favorite book is Lolita; the poignancy of the story moves me. Favorite film is Unfaithful, every frame is achingly beautiful. Eeek, that makes me sound like I endorse relationships with minors and adultery! Music changes depending on my mood.

What’s your beauty regime?

Coming from a beauty background (former beauty editor, beauty buyer and product developer), I live and breathe the subject. Everyday it’s the obvious – cleanse, tone, moisturise, sunscreen. At night it’s a night cream, then weekly scrub and mask. Facials every month. And absolutely no makeup if I’m not working. 🙂

And what is the one beauty product you can’t live without?

I can’t live without Lancôme Hydra Zen Neurocalm Soothing Anti-Stress Moisturising Cream.

What are your favorite hang out spots in the city you live in (current location)?

I split my time between my hometown of Melbourne and my now second home, Mumbai. Both of them are like chalk and cheese in terms of things to do. In Melbourne, I like walking the streets at night and bar-hopping in the inner city – Collins, Degraves Street. I hang out in the gardens, at the beach and do outdoorsy activities. In Mumbai, one can only really party, so I like going to a whole range of places with character: Tilt All Day, Trilogy, Ghetto, Asilo, Villa 69.

What is your favorite city and where do you like to hang out there?

At risk of sounding disloyal to my hometown, I actually love Sydney! I lived there for a year before moving to India and I’d live there again in a heartbeat. It’s flashy, fun and has everything you could possibly want within reasonably close proximity – the beach, shopping, clubs, mountains, wineries.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?

Be very clear that this is what you want to do and have a backup plan for later. Don’t take rejection as a character flaw. Do not allow your self-esteem to be tied to the job. Eat lots of healthy, good food and exercise. And love yourself!

What are your plans for the future?

I am first and foremost a writer and an actor, having started both from a very young age. Here in Mumbai, I’m grateful to be given the opportunities to explore both of these creative outlets – I have a food blog called THIS MODEL EATS A LOT (thismodeleatsalot.blogspot.in), which will soon be turning into something much bigger! Acting gigs keep coming up in terms of ads and films, so let’s see where it takes me.
