How did you start modeling?
One of my good friends participated in a competition for designing clothes and she was looking for a model who wanted to show her design. Of course I wanted to help her, so I did a show and a shoot in her design. After this experience I found out that I really loved doing this and that I wanted to continue with modeling.
What does your career do for you?
My modeling career gives me the opportunity to see so many great parts of the world, while I’m doing something I love. While travelling, I learn so much more about the modeling world, about the world in general and about myself. I discover who are my real friends and I’m so grateful for all the support I’m getting from them and from my family.
What’s your most memorable shoot?
One of the most memorable shoots I had, was a magazine shoot I had in Paris. It was last November, at a ruin of a church. It was freezing, but we were shooting outside in amazing clothes, with a great team and at a beautiful location. I’m actually a new face, I’m not even modeling for a year. So I guess (and I hope,) that there are still so much more amazing things waiting for me!
What do you think MODELLIST-ID can do for the model community?
I think MODELLIST-ID is a great site for models, because you can see what other models are doing, what their experiences are and how they develop. Besides that, there is a lot of information about modelling agencies, health, fashion and beauty. You can visit this website whenever you want, and wherever you are.
Who do you admire and would you like to meet?
This will sound cliché, but I would love to meet Doutzen Kroes. It makes me so proud to know that she’s Dutch too and everyone in the world knows her. She’s such a great model, and I feel like modeling work didn’t change her personality. I admire her for that!
What’s your favorite book/film/music?
I like books based on true stories. They always strike me, and the book comes more alive for me.
I saw lots of great movies, but I always love comedies or science fiction. When I’m travelling for work, I can’t live without movies!
I love to listen to dance and house music. I can listen to it every time of the day. Morning, evening, night, I don’t care haha!
What’s your beauty regime?
I don’t really have a beauty regime actually. I try to eat healthy, work out and sleep enough. And besides these standard things, it’s really important to try to accept yourself.don’t really have a beauty regime actually. In the modeling world looks are very important of course, and I think every model sometimes feels this pressure because we see so many amazing faces every day. Don’t try to compare yourself with them, but accept yourself. Ther’s nothing more beautiful than that.
And what is the one beauty product you can’t live without?
I really can’t live without Vaseline. I’m using it for my lips, lashes and eyebrows.
What are your favorite hang out spots in the city you live in (current location)?
At the moment I’m living in Bangkok for already 2,5 months. I saw lots of great things here. In the beginning the different culture and language was very hard to deal with for me. Now I’m getting more used to it, but I still love to look up the touristic places like Kao San Road. It’s full of tourists and backpackers. This place makes me feel like I’m not the only one who’s exploring the world on their own and being away so far from my friends and family in Holland.
What is your favorite city and where do you like to hang out there?
That’s difficult… I love my home city, Den Bosch. I already live there for so many years, so I know the city very well. I love to go out with my friends, go for shopping or relaxing at one of the lakes. But besides Den Bosch, I’m in love with Amsterdam and Paris!
Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?
Don’t give up, even if you have been rejected by many agencies. If you really want it, you can do it. If YOU believe in yourself, other people will do too.
What are your plans for the future?
I change my plans almost everyday haha. But at the moment I’m thinking about going to university again. Because for me, education is very important. Of course I want to continue modeling work, since I love it. I just want to figure out the right balance between modeling and studying, because in my opinion modeling work doesn’t need to exclude studying and vice versa.
