How were you discovered?
It is a rather funny story… I was back home, just hanging out in front of my computer, when an idea popped into my head to send the “become a model” application to an agency in NYC… I did it just out of curiosity… what’s funny about it is that it kept sending for a long time and in the end I clicked cancel, since it looked like it’s not working and completely forgot about it, thinking the application was never really sent… but a few months later I received an email from them in which they said they were interested in representing me. One month later, I was in Milan starting something, what turned out to be my profession this very day…
What does your career do for you?
It gives me so much freedom to see different places and meet new people from different corners of the earth. It’s a rather priceless experience for which I’m grateful for every day. It made me so much stronger, made my point of view wider and my life richer.
Tell us a bit about your most memorable shoot?
There were so many… I guess the ones I like to remember were the ones where I was surrounded by such professionals who knew what they wanted and, even more importantly, knew how to get it… When you find yourself in these kind of surroundings it’s so much easier to let yourself follow your natural instincts and give your best. One of those would definitely be shooting for Italian Vogue or doing a beauty campaign in Paris with Greg Kadel.
How would you define your personal style?
The older I get, the more I realize it’s not so much about being at your best all the time, but rather feeling good in your own skin and feeling like yourself. I guess, I would describe my personal style as simple and casual. But don’t get me wrong… I’m a girl and I do like wearing a nice dress paired with high heels in some occasions. I also, believe that being appropriate is what matters. Don’t wear sweat pants to a fancy dinner… sound reasonable, right:)?
And what are some of the heroes of your wardrobe?
I like to keep it simple when it comes to colors… naturally I have a lot of black items in my wardrobe. I like leather jackets paired with some cool boots. I think the best style is when it looks effortless but nicely put together.
Could you give us your best beauty and exercise tip(s)?
Try to be in love:):)… that’s a good one! I am aware that’s also the most difficult one, skip to the option B… I do believe that it’s all about moderation and finding what works for you, since we are all different. Healthy food is a good place to start with. Food can be a remedy, but also a poison, so it’s about making the right choices whenever you can. As far as the exercising goes, it’s all individual… as long as you feel active and fulfilled everything might work… a simple walk can make you feel good. How you feel shows on the outside-it’s the oldest cliché in the book, but it’s indisputably a truthful one.
And what is the one beauty product you can’t live without?
That’s an easy one for me. It’s a chap stick… I’ve been a chap stick addict for many years now. Most of the time it’s Labello, but I like EOS as well. If I don’t have one next to me at all times, I panic!
Could you give us a 1-day food diary? What do you eat on a regular day?
I try to eat organic produce as much as I can, also mostly healthy fats, as well as protein of some sort. Fish is always a good choice. Salad as well.
Also, I believe it’s a good think to eat when you’re hungry, not just because it’s the right time for it. I like health food markets, so sometimes I spend almost an hour discovering new things and I get genuinely excited about it:)
What are your favorite hang out spots in the city you live in (current location)?
My current location is Los Angeles. So far I have enjoyed walking along the beach of Santa Monica. I love being near the water. LA is an incredibly big city; it could take years to get to know it properly… I’m a newbie here, so, for now I’m sticking to the ocean:)
What is your favorite city and where do you like to hang out there?
I have to say one of my favorite cities is my home city and that’s Belgrade. There are so many great places in Belgrade, but since I grew up spending a lot of time on my family’s boat, the river is the place to be. Water makes me calm and washes away the stress in a subtle, yet notable manner. There’s something about it… not really sure what it is, but I guess that’s what makes it so special. There are many more cities I like… New York, Lisbon, Cape Town, etc. Every single one of them has its own energy, which affects me in different ways… I just had to be bias and put my hometown first:)
Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?
Just be yourself, stay true to your beliefs, know your priorities, follow your instincts, learn how to differentiate important from irrelevant and don’t start too young!
What do you think MODELLIST-ID can do for the model community?
I think it’s a nice way for people who belong to this industry, to stay connected and also to break stereotypes of modeling with personal points of view from models themselves.
Any nice plans for the future?
I’m planning to stick around here in LA, give my best one day at a time, follow my instincts and do whatever makes me feel fulfilled… In the end, that’s the only thing that matters, right:)?
