How do you combine modelling and photography?
I do enjoy combining modelling and photography, because it gives me more chances to express myself as an artist. I get experience and knowledge in front of the camera and then I can use those doing photography.
How would you describe your work to someone who has never seen it?
I’m trying to do photography as an art, but at the same time it has to be commercial, because fashion is an advertisement.
How did you get into fashion photography?
I bought my first digital camera in USA and started to take pictures of every interesting objects I saw, then I tried to take photos of my models friends and I really liked that so, finally I decided to practice every day with models.
What are the biggest challenges of working in fashion photography?
The biggest challenge of working in fashion photography is meeting all these big names in industry and work with them, but most of the time it’s just about expectations. Actually they are really interesting people who are open to share their experience.
In your opinion, who does fit the artistic photography with the fashion-commercial word?
Annie Leibovitz and Mario Testino make it just perfect for my opinion. They know how to sell their art.
What qualities does a good photographer possess?
I think a good photographer has to know how to communicate right with his models, clients and rest of the team and of course he has to have an eye to do photography and certain skills.
What is your opinion about adjust images in post-production?
In XXI Century we are able to use all kind of technologies and there’s nothing wrong with using post production. Different artists using different tools, but of course I prefer to take photos without using lot of post-production, using knowledge about composition, right settings of the camera and the correct light.
How often do you step out of your comfort zone to be creative?
I step out of it as much often as I can, whenever I do my art projects, because not always we can be creative doing commercial photography.
In your opinion, what is a perfect picture?
Perfect picture is a picture based on principles of “golden section”, but of course it’s not necessary to take all the photos by these rules. Most of the time there’s always a chance to take a perfect shot when you’re not expecting that with random light, emotion or concept.
What is your favourite thing to shoot for yourself?
I love to shoot architecture, because it’s my other passion.
If you could go back ten years, what advice would you give yourself?
Ten years back I would give me the following advice; be more open for learning different cultures and get more inspiration by travelling.
If you could have anyone take your portrait, who is it and why?
I’ve been working as a model with a lot of photographers from all around the world from New York to Seoul. But of course I’d love to work with big names in photography as a Patrick Demarchelie, Steven Meisel and Karl Lagerfeld.
Modelling or Photography, Any preference?
I wouldn’t make this choice, because I like to do both for now and these two fields are compliment each other.
