His wish would be to do a beauty editorial with his wife and if anyone could take his portrait it should be Peter Coulson. In today’s spotlight: Super talented Austrian photographer Bernd Niederwieser (BN Lichtbilder)…
Milestones: Several shootings for international Magazines, Juror for an Austrian Model Contest
Current Location: Graz
Can you give us a little intro as to who you are and how you got started?
Hey, my name is Bernd Niederwieser (BN Lichtbilder) and I am a Fashion-, Beauty- and Lifestyle photographer based in Austria. I started photography 2 years ago with an analog camera.
Was there a specific moment when you decided to follow your passion?
There wasn’t a specific moment. It was like one thing lead to another. I absolutely think, if you follow your passion and always perform at 100%, nothing is impossible.- Even it sounds cheesy.
Can you describe your style of photography to us?
The only thing, I can say about my style, is that I always try to create pictures in a way I have never seen before.
If you could shoot anything/anyone/anywhere in the world – what/who/where would that be?
I would love to do a beauty editorial with my wife, but this will never happen, because she hates to get photographed.
Which photo are you currently most proud of?
The pictures I am currently most proud of, and is just published in ELEGANT magazine in their March issue.
The picture I am also extremely proud of, is the picture with two models lying on a plastic flamingo. If you see it from a technical point of view, it’s not a special picture, but shooting this editorial was great fun for the whole team.- This you can absolutely feel when looking at the picture.
You could have anyone take your portrait, who is it and why?
Hard question.- I would say Peter Coulson! For me, he is the only photographer, who creates a special feeling when looking at his portraits.
What’s in your bag?
My workhorse is a NIKON D800 and prime lenses. For special appointments I shoot with a Phase One XF.
Natural light or artificial?
It absolutely depends on the mood I want to create. When I do beauty campaigns in studio, of course I work with artificial light. If I do a lifestyle shooting in the summer sun for example, I love to work with natural light.
What are some photography pet peeves when it comes to photo shoots?
I can’t stand tardiness, impatience, fault- finder, and most of all unprofessionalism.
What’s the most important thing you want potential clients to know about you?
I want them to know, that for me a perfect picture is a mixture of perfect technique, a perfect team and a good feeling for the model.- For me the highest quality is absolutely crucial, even we are talking about a test shoot.
What’s next for your future career?
In the summer I will shoot editorials for several costumers in Berlin and Croatia with my appreciated colleague and friend Michael Hochfellner.
I will also have several editorials in international magazines by my own and also together with Michael Hochfellner.
