Amsterdam Fashion Week came to an end and we’ve summarized the most note worthy fashion trends and week events in this must read post!
The week began with various off schedule fashion events from couture ensembles to fashion on ice the high fashion and hottest trends for fall/winter 2016 were showed in creative and quirky variation of fashion experiences.
The runways began on the 14th with MERCEDES-BENZ PRESENTS DUTCH VISIONARIES. An explosion of color, crazy wigs and plastic doll like faces strutted the catwalk. A notable look from the show was the mesh scarf neckties styled in a traditional and chic way. The Parisian style has been a celebrity favorite and you can expect to see a lot more of it in upcoming fashion weeks around the world. Team the ‘it’ accessory with a tailored dress or high waisted pants and a V-neck shirt for instant sophistication.
The same day model member Melody Vroom supplied Modellist-ID with a backstage look into the Couture and Crafts show which you can read here. The collection was classy and sophisticated with key pieces being large hats, in the style of sun hats, top hats, trilby and berets, pant suits and beautifully sculpted dresses each in a variety of materials and fine details.
On Friday 7 designers showed collections on the runway, a personal favorite being Jeff Montes. A balloon popping water extravaganza was only just the beginning of the shows highlights. The dark atmosphere and shades of metallic grays in draping materials set a chilling scene.
Anbasja Blanken, Mick Keus and Spijkers and Spijkers were among those of Saturday’s collections and any model members walked the runway for these top dutch designers. The Anbasja Blanken runway was another representative of the Parisian style scarf neckties in a pale icey blue.Blue was a running theme for the collection, everything from the palest to a deep ocean tone. Metal ringlets with blue tassels were a striking addition to the collection.
On Sunday I attended the Oilily show with a popping, colorful, upbeat collection. I spotted model member Nella Ngino! The fall winter 2016 styles were my favorite from fashion week covering the whole spectrum of earthy tones. Very 70s inspired prints and cuts were popular. I particularly liked the hats and chunky knit scarves keeping you warm and fabulous in the colder months. The show ended with a bang of confetti and African drum beats.
Monday ended the fashion events with Maison the Fox, a much awaited extraordinary show. Guests walked among the models who sported futuristic metallic and fur designs. A very alienesque atmosphere gave way for a remarkable viewing of the designs.
