A friend asked me last week; “What if you completely stop taking care of your skin, what happens then?” He never bought any kind of jar. I explained him what my skin would look like if I would ignore it for a week…
During periods of stress and lots of traveling, I used to suffer from cystic acne, redness, barley grains, and so on. When having busy schedules, I feel my skin pulling from dryness. The make-up and air conditioners do not make it better…Using nothing is no option. But what is? That’s a real expedition.
Maintaining a sensitive skin is a lot more complicated than people think. Many scrubs are too coarse. Using too many products make my skin permanently fat and also many creams sting. Mud dries out and other products close my pores so that nothing goes on or off. Therefore, I use a lot of self-muted nutmegs, such as honey masks and olive oil cures. From some brands, I do not use all products but just the one I like the most.
One thing is for sure, I have my favorites. The Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant for example. This is a powder that you add with water so you can make it is as thick or thin as you want it to be. Then I apply the cream and massage around. The fact that it does not smell super nice is a sign that there is no rubbish in it, the skin is treated non-perfumed and provides me with a clean, non-dry skin that brings out the best facial canvas. It’s not cheap but remember; The more beautiful my skin, the less make-up I need, so having varied food, drinking a lot of water and having a few quality essentials in my skincare regime are musts.
One or twice a week, depends on how my schedule looks like, I use besides the Daily Microfoliant also the multivitamin masque to take care of my skin after a lot of hours on a plane and/or during an irregular sleep and eat rhythm.
