It’s nice to know that in a city of such serious design attitude, certain architects still have a sense of humor. Formed in the shape of a beer bottle, measuring 26 meters tall, Turborg Bottle is an observation tower which originally housed Denmark’s first-ever elevator and was built for the Nordic Industry Exhibition in 1888 as a symbol of technological advancement. And to advertise, naturally, the advent of bottled beer to the Danes.
Built by the Tuborg Breweries, it originally stood close to the Copenhagen City Hall, but after the exhibition the giant bottle was moved to Hellerup.
