Pllek - A little giveaway to get away
Sharing this new spot in the north of Amsterdam, at the NDSM wharf, isn’t the smartest thing I’ve done lately. Because exactly the peace and quietness are what gives this lovely work in progress its uniqueness. Instead of spending a hot day in the crowded city, take the fairy boat and walk about 200 meters to the left when you get off. And Pllek will appear in front of you, like an oasis in the desert. It perfectly fits the setting of the wharf; Pllek is build out of raw industrial materials that blend in well with the storage halls, the crain and of course with the artistic feel the NDSM is known for.
Take a seat in the colorful containers, once used for shipping across the oceans, lay down in one of the beanbags, lounge chairs or half a boat at the small beach.
The owners started building this spot in April and are still expanding. You can enjoy open-air movies, plays, bbq’s, music, parties and they have yoga in the morning. Stop by for lunch or dinner; they mainly serve organic, raw and vegetarian food.
Dive into the IJ as long as the summer still last and enjoy the amazing view. When the fall kicks in, believe me, the light in the late afternoon and evening of a bright day is so beautiful, it will take your breath away.
