African-American Diandra Forrest is the first female model with albinism to be signed to a major modeling agency. Her striking beauty has caught the attention of many designers and magazines. You are our Model of the Week!
Diandra grew up in a family of five children. At the age of 9, she realized she had albinism. The fact that she looked different made her the victim of many people and bullies who wanted to make fun of her. People stared and laughed.
Luckily, scouts and agencies saw the beauty of her outstanding look, making Diandra the first albino woman to land a major beauty campaign, defying cruel bullies who told her she was too odd to ever succeed. as a model.
She did not only caught the attention of designers but also from famous rapper Kayne West after she walked a runway show for Jean Paul Gaultier. She appeared in the music video of the rapper called POWER.
At the moment she’s still very active as a model and also with being a mother. She even ran the runway carrying her baby girl Rain. The video went viral and we love this! Diandra, you’re a real POWER woman.
I've been so blessed throughout my career as a model. After having Rain I knew it was something that I still wanted to continue, not only because I love what I do, but to also be an inspiration for mothers finding a balance between holding down their family, and excelling in their career. Finding that balance is hard as HELL sometimes. But it's not impossible. Don't give up. You're doing great! #thefutureisfemale 😉 #FBF #BabyRain's first fashion week #GypsySport
