Israel – First Country To Legislate Minimum Weight For Fashion Models

April 18, 2012 by Modellist-ID

Whether you are Kate Moss or Lara Stone and you have a BMI below 18.5, you are not allowed anymore to model in Israel. Although other countries like Spain and Australia have set minimum weights in the past, Israel is the first country ever to legislate minimum weights for fashion models. According to fashion photographer Adi Barkan the difference between thin and too thin is a matter of life and death and therefore he is one of the big names behind this legislation. A law which hopefully will be adapted by other countries, since super skinny models are a public health concern.
