In Amsterdam there are tons of good places to eat healthy. Especially de Pijp and de Haarlemmerstraat are exploding with salads and juice bars, açai bowls and minimalistic cafés with organic coffee.

In de Pijp you should take a look at Cotton Cake (@cottoncake_), a clothing store with a cute little café inside where you can get spelt and buckwheat waffles for example (“New York Style Waffles”). Most of what they offer is vegan and/or gluten free!

For some high quality coffee in de Pijp De Koffiesalon (www.dekoffiesalon.nl) is a good place to go to. Or Boca’s close to De Koffiesalon! Accomplish your coffee with breakfast, lunch or a juice? Coffee & Coconuts (ctamsterdam.nl) on the Ceintuurbaan is a place, which I guess is familiar to most of you. They offer Bocca coffee and of course fresh coconuts (only cost you and arm and a leg). Located in the old Ceintuur theater and transformed in this enormous relaxing place where you can sit for hours. Beach house vibes!

Craving healthy snacks till late, like sweet potato fries and other deep fries veggies? Therefore is Schatje Patatje (www.schatjepatatje.amsterdam) on the Ferdinand Bolstraat. Prepared with additive free vegetable oil and also some great selection of (healthy) dips.  Yoghurt Barn (@yoghurtbarn) is a great place with a huge variety of yoghurt, soy yoghurt or coconut yoghurt with all the toppings you want…. including fruit, superfoods and dark chocolate (thank god!).  Also available in Utrecht, Den Haag, Haarlem, Den Bosch, Leiden en Amsterdam en Utrecht CS.

SLA

Best salad bar? SLA (@ilovesla) for sure! But Venkel (www.venkelsalades.nl/#venkel) is also a good one, similar to SLA. But I only visited it once, in comparison with SLA… I went to this place so many times because per season they switch the menu. Despite the name of this place, the soups are also worth trying (and filling). There are five locations in Amsterdam, but there are also located in Utrecht, Haarlem and Den Haag.

The Meets (@themeetseatery) is a homely place on Cornelis Troostplein, good from breakfast (açai bowl!!) till dinner (sweet potato gnocchi!!). And healthy cakes! Suitable for vegetarians, vegans, meat and fish eaters.

Juicebrothers

Craving an açai bowl? Go to Juicebrothers (@juicebrothers) for sure. It is the best one in Amsterdam! This one is so thick and doesn’t melt immediately (like most of them will). And you have three choices of açai bowls, also one with kale if you don’t like the sweet taste of açai.

For cute dates in de Negen Straatjes, Dr. Blend is a good one (@drblend). Unique juices and smoothies and big salads!

Looking for a more romantic spot for your date? Go to Hannekes boom (@hannekesboom), 10 minutes near Amsterdam Central. Maybe not so healthy but adorable, romantic and next to the IJ!

A crave for pancakes? You have The Breakfast Club (www.thebreakfastclub.nl) close to the Foodhallen, where they sell pumpkin pancakes but also real American pancakes for example…. MOOK pancakes is in the same area, where they make sweet pancakes (melted peanut butter!!) and savory pancakes (salmon!!) with 100% spelt flour. Great interior too.

Lavinia Good Food (@laviniagoodfood) is a good one in between shopping. This lovely hidden place is located In de Kerkstraat, near Leidseplein and the Kalverstraat. They make these healthy pizza called “pizzettas”, prepared with 100% spelt flour and topped with mushrooms and truffles for example.

Enjoy! Jacobien
