Beauty Habits You Should Be Doing Every Night

During the day, we protect skin with SPF moisturizers yet there are a ton of things we should be doing at night to help us look our best.

Some of these tips can help reverse the aging process and keep you looking refreshed every day.

Get Your Sleep
This is one of the most important steps in taking care of ourselves and our beauty. Sleep helps us look younger in many ways. First, when you get the sleep you need, your body goes through a series of events and damaged tissues are repaired and rejuvenated. You also have a better attitude the next day, which has a lot to do with your inner beauty. No one looks pretty when scowling or grumpy.

Why Aren’t You Sleeping
There are a lot of reasons why we don’t get the sleep we need. We stay up too late to complete that project, we suffer from insomnia, or we have pains in our shoulder or neck that keeps us awake. Some of these ailments could be remedied by drinking some chamomile tea or sticking to a routine at bedtime. Pains in your joints like the hips or your back can be the problem of an old or uncomfortable mattress. Buying a new mattress is a great way to invest in your beauty sleep. Wash Off Your Makeup
When you get home for the night, use your favorite method and take off that makeup. Try to use a remover that is gentle on your skin. The important thing here is to make sure your face is clean and clear of any residue and makeup from the day.

Use A Toner
Put some toner on your face after you cleanse to return the pH levels of your skin to normal. This helps your face repel microorganisms and bacteria and removes impurities. If your skin is oily, then toner is perfect for you.

Moisturize
This is an important part of keeping your skin soft and touchable. Moisturizing can also protect you from skin problems, keep your skin looking young, even out your skin tone, and diminish wrinkles.

Mask It
There are all types of masks available from mud to avocado. Putting one on your face just before bedtime once a week can help clean your pore of impurities.

Take A Bath
Not only will a bath give you time to do other nighttime rituals, if you add some scented candles or essential oils to your bath this could be a nice relaxing time for you as well, which leads us to our next tip.

Relax and Meditate

There are a lot of times we need to relax but it is especially important at night before you go to bed. If your mind is filled with images of that meeting that didn’t go so well or all the cupcakes you need to make in the morning for your daughter’s bake sale, falling sleep is not going to be an easy thing to do.
Sit on the floor or in a chair with your feet flat on the ground. Your hand could be in your lap or in the palm up position, whichever feels comfortable to you. Make sure all your devices are shut off and the lights are low. Close your eyes and start to breathe in, filling your lungs while feeling your stomach and diaphragm expand.
Count the breaths going in and hold for a moment, then exhale out the same count as when you breathed in. For example, if you do a count of eight breathing in, try to do a count of eight breathing out.

Try to imagine all your thoughts leaving your mind and going out of your nose and mouth when you exhale. Try to do this for ten minutes a night. If this is too long for you then start small and build yourself up. This is a great way to achieve balance before going to bed.

Don’t Forget Your Feet
Before you go to bed, get some petroleum jelly or a good foot cream and lather up your feet. Even if you sit at a desk all day, feet are shoved into tiny shoes with heels that are too high for our own good, when we get home it’s time to pamper them.
You should coat your feet and then let them sit for a while in some warm fuzzy socks. When you get up in the morning your feet will be beautiful.

Top Bun
Pull your hair up to a bun on top of your head or pull it back. The idea is to get your hair off your face when you are sleeping. Hair has oils and dirt in it and, when that rubs on your face, you can wake up with blemishes.

A New Case
Since our beauty is important investing money into it isn’t too much to ask. Change your pillowcases out from cotton to silk or satin. Cotton is rough on the skin and can lead to wrinkles.

Pamper yourself
Creating a nightly ritual for yourself that focuses on your beauty is beneficial to you in more ways than one. You get the great looking skin and people asking “how is she not aging?”  An added bonus is the pampering time you get to spend on yourself, which we all need. Take an hour to yourself before bedtime to try out these rituals and adopt the ones you love.
