During our visit to Berlin we stayed at an apartment on Birkenstrasse in Moabit. A quiet neighboorhood with beautiful streets, nice German restaurants and a relaxed atmosphere.
Opposite our apartment there’s a place called Arema, which is really nice for having your breakfast. My favorite: the yoghurt with cereals, fresh fruit and honey.
Are you in Berlin on a Sunday? Definitely go to Mauerpark if you like vintage, music, food and nice people. You will find this big flea market on Bernauer Strasse, just follow all the people walking in either direction. Many vintage clothes, handmade jewellery, leather bags, drafts, illustrations, old books and home stuff will be sold every sunday. Then there’s the food. Delicious waffles, cakes and ice cream, but also healthy smoothies and vegetarian food. For a relaxing moment in between go sit in the park to enjoy the sun and different musicians playing their music.
In the afternoon it’s nice to have a walk through Kreuzberg/Friedrichshain. You will find some amazing streetart here. I was overwhelmed by the different colours, sizes and beautiful illustrations.
There’re a lot of nice coffee places in this neighboorhood too. Many with biological food, delicious cakes and different kinds of breads. Really great for having your lunch! We went to this place ‘Kaffee Laden’ on Manteuffelstrasse and ate a delicious cheesecake with a cappuccino.
Are you interested in photography? Visit the Helmut Newton Foundation. A museum with many photographs taken by Helmut Newton and everything about his life. Loved the black and white old Vogue ones. I will write another post about this museum and about Helmut Newton himself.
Hope you enjoyed my highlights of Berlin!
