The CFDA - the Council of Fashion Designers of America - with Diane von Fürstenberg as the group's President and Steven Kolb as the Chief Executive Officer, has partnered up with Organic Avenue to encourage models to eat during the shows by giving models a 50 per cent discount off juices and raw food starting February 7. This new initiative is a reaction to many models' complaints that they can't find food that is both nutritious and convenient during Fashion Week and thus to ensure that they eat regularly and healthily instead of missing meals. And since Organic Avenue's products are quite expensive, it now enables all models to afford these healthy options. Besides the great discount, Organic Avenue continues to provide support and education to models through March 31.
The whole initiative is something top model Doutzen Kroes, who is herself a fan of healthy and organic food, really supports. She therefore tweeted last week: "In my opinion this is great. It's hard for fashion models during shows to eat healthy."
