Last week I was honored with a special invitation by one of the most renowned Spa`s of the Netherlands, the Bergman Clinic at the Willemsparkweg, in the center of Amsterdam. They offered me a special Bergman Express Treatment, a treatment in which a neck and shoulder massage are combined with a special facemask that works relaxing but stimulates the blood circulation at the same time. I met up with Kristien van Tongeren, a very nice lady who has a ` golden hand` for neck massages which I can definitely state after my 45 minutes of relaxation, because yes I was able to relax during this period!
The welcoming was very pleasant, they offered me a cup of tea immediately and 10 minutes later it was my turn to go upstairs into the relaxing room. The clinique is very clean, everything is white and shining, but yet there`s a very warm atmosphere in the clinic. I came on a Thursday and I have to say they were fully booked, so in order to make sure you have a reservation,do book in advance. Last minute visits are almost impossible in this clinic.
The treatment is a special one for people that do not have a lot of free time, but need some quality time, so this is the perfect solution in order to reboost your skin. For this clientele, this treatment is perfect because in an hour you have done the tour, since the treatment lasts 45 minutes so you have the other 15 minutes left to change, have a drink before leaving and pay.
Once inside, I was very amused with the tunes of Ben Howard coming out of the small boxes in the room, of course the sounds were in the background and not full blast. The first thing I had to undergo was a good face cleaning and a scrub in order to open the pores of your skin. After this thorough cleaning, which lasted for 10 minutes, she scanned my skin looking for impurities. This is never a very pleasant feeling but with the mask that she applied immediately after, the relaxing mode was totally back. She left the mask on for about ten minutes and in the meantime she gave me a neck and shoulder massage. For this treatment only, I recommend a visit to the Spa, since I was in a deep relaxing mode during these 10 minutes and didn`t want her to stop. But unfortunately this was the shortest part of the treatment, so I had to face the outside world again real soon, but not before she treated my face with me a good day- and eye cream.
