Although walnuts are high in calories so moderation is important, these small brain-like looking nuts are extremely good for your health. They are rich in fiber, B vitamins, magnesium, and antioxidants such as Vitamin E and they contain lots of omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3 fats are necessary for human health but the body can' t make them so we have to get them through food or pills. Walnuts are one of these foods just as fish like salmon, herring and tuna.

Walnuts lower your cholesterol levels, control high blood sugars, and improve cardiovascular functions. They are good for various hearth problems and they can even help prevent gallstones.

Hereby some suggestions how you can add walnuts to your daily diet:

- Sprinkle some walnuts in your yogurt, oatmeal or breakfast cereals to start your day.

- Eat some walnuts as a small snack in between meals. Much better than a cookie!

- Toss some walnuts into your salad.

- Buy some organic walnut butter at your local organic store to put on your bread.

Studies have shown that only 7 walnuts a day already deliver so much health benefits that we would suggest: Let's go (wal)nuts!
